Caro Emerald produced some snazzy, sultry tunes during their 15 year run between 2007 and 2022. Many of their songs felt like they were from the soundtrack of a film that you really wanted to see, or a film that you wanted to be in.
Alas, now that the project has broken up (front woman Caroline van der Leeuw’s new project is called The Jordan) we’ll have to make do with what we have, and “Tahitian Skies” from the 2017 EP Emerald Island is one of the best. I’d go so far as to say that this song is a strong contender for a Corsairs theme song; smoky and mysterious, with a cool breeze winding its way throughout.
